Over the past year we have done several theme inspired shoots for our beauty and boudoir photography clients. One of my favorites was the 1920's flapper girl shoot. I had a great time researching lighting, posing, costumes, and music. Also, my client was so excited about the theme she had been practicing her poses in the mirror beforehand. Love her enthusiasm! And on the day of the shoot she rocked it! It was like we had gone back in time to the 1920's. Here are some of her photos. What do you think?
You are probably wondering what this has to do with pinup. It was on this day I decided I wanted to try more theme inspired shoots. I absolutely LOVE pinup. The main reason is pinup is great for all body types. The clothing is designed to hit women at their smallest point, enhancing their hourglass figure. Plus, pinup is a timeless art form. If you go out and do any research on the web, you will see it has been popular for decades.

With the resurgence of this art form, it is easier than ever to find clothing and inspirational sites. On Facebook alone there are many pages dedicated to pinup. Of course, I am following the Queen of Pinup, Bettie Page on her official Facebook page. There are also Bettie Page Clothing stores in several major cities. A new Bettie Page Clothing store opened recently in Nashville, TN. I can't wait to make the trip up there and check it out. I will definitely blog about my trip. More recently I found the page "Lost Pinup." This not only has lots of pinup photos, but hair, makeup and clothing tips as well. They are linked to the website Rebel Circus. Here you can buy all types of clothing and accessories for your pinup shoots.
Here are the links to these clothing websites:

Currently we are planning a concept shoot centered around pinup. I have my inspiration boards going and am looking for models, classic cars/trucks, and of course lots of pinup clothing, shoes, and accessories. I can't wait to get these ideas out of my head and on to "film." And of course this will be another blog in the Spring. If pinup is something that interests you, please let us know and we can schedule you a fabulous pinup shoot!
